Sunday in the summer, after the rain, walking to Safeway, people out everywhere like it’s the first day of spring, stuff in the parking (Midwest term for space between sidewalk and street) that has been demoted to “don’t need any more.” Today’s offerings: two high though narrow plastic shelves, one table of questionable stability, set of colorful wooden blocks, potty-seat attachment, floor lamp. Farther along, a U Haul spews out young men holding bags. A young woman stands on a porch holding the door, and 20-30 bags of whoknowswhat waits on the curb for entry. New moving trend? Skip the boxes altogether?
